High-Protein Chocolate Frosty

High-Protein Chocolate Frosty

Thick diner chocolate, a spoonable swirl – 5 minutes, one blender

This is a frosty, not a thin chocolate shake. Cottage cheese, chocolate whey, and cocoa blend with ice until the mix stands in a swirl, like the glasses in the photo. No banana. No ice cream. Five minutes.

One serving fills one tall glass. Double everything if you want two, like the photo.

Why you’ll love this frosty

  • 32g protein in one glass – dessert that fills you
  • Only 6g net carbs – no banana, no ice cream
  • About 5 minutes, one blender
  • Light cocoa swirl that holds a straw, like the photo
  • Cottage cheese disappears if you blend it long enough
  • Eat it with a spoon if you go extra thick

Health notes

  • High protein: Cottage plus a scoop of chocolate whey.
  • Low carb: Unsweetened cocoa, no sugar ice cream.
  • One glass: Double the batch for two, like the photo.
  • Macros are per serving, not for both glasses.

Key element – ice first, milk last, or it turns into a drink

A frosty is thick enough to stand. Start with 1/4 cup milk and a packed cup of ice. Blend. Add one splash only if the blades spin dry. That is the diner swirl in the photo, not a sip-through-a-straw shake.

Ingredients

Frosty (1 glass)

  • 1/2 cup (110g) cottage cheese (2% or 4%)
  • 1 scoop (30g) chocolate whey protein
  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 to 2 tsp powdered erythritol or monk fruit, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/8 tsp xanthan gum, optional, for extra swirl

Swaps

  • Greek yogurt: Use 1/2 cup thick Greek yogurt instead of cottage. Tangier.
  • Vanilla whey: Add 1 extra tsp cocoa so it still tastes chocolate.
  • No whey: Add 1/4 cup extra cottage. Protein drops a few grams.
  • Mocha: Use 1/4 cup cold coffee instead of part of the milk.

Instructions

Pro tips

  • A pinch of salt makes the cocoa taste louder, not salty.
  • Xanthan is optional but it is what makes the swirl hold. A little goes a long way.
  • If you taste cottage, blend 15 more seconds.
  • Freeze the glass 10 minutes if you want the mound to last.
  • Dutch-process cocoa is smoother. Natural cocoa is a little sharper.

FAQ

Yes. About 6g net carbs with cocoa and no banana. Sweetened cocoa mix or ice cream will jump that.
Not if you blend 45 seconds. Cocoa and whey cover it.
Too much milk, or not enough ice. Start with 1/4 cup liquid. Add ice, not milk, to thicken.
No. Ice and cottage already make it thick. Xanthan just helps the swirl hold, like the photo.
Chocolate is easier. Vanilla works if you add an extra teaspoon of cocoa.
Yes. Double the batch. If the blender struggles, do two single glasses.
