Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
- 2 lbs (900g) lean ground beef
- 8–10 oz (225–280g) mushrooms, sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (or coconut aminos)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp onion powder + garlic powder
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- 2–3 cups (200–300g) shredded mozzarella, provolone, or Swiss cheese (or a mix)
- 2 tbsp butter or olive oil for cooking
- Optional: ¼ cup heavy cream or cream cheese for extra creaminess in the sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) if finishing in the oven.
- In a large oven-safe skillet, heat butter/oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up well. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add sliced onions and mushrooms. Cook 5–7 minutes until mushrooms release their liquid and onions soften.
- Stir in garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, onion/garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook 1–2 more minutes. If using, stir in heavy cream or cream cheese for a saucier base.
- Spread the mixture evenly in the skillet (or transfer to a foil pan like in your photo). Top generously with shredded cheese.
- Bake 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden. (Or broil for 2–3 minutes for extra browning.)
