Purple Tiramisu

Purple Tiramisu

🍇 Purple Tiramisu

This Purple Tiramisu is a chilled dessert you can build in 25 minutes, plus a rest in the fridge. Ladyfingers get a quick berry soak, then layers of mascarpone and Greek yogurt. A fine purple berry dust covers the top, like the bowl in the photo.

I love how the slice holds once it has chilled. Do not skip the rest, and that extra dust on top is not optional. 🌿

Why You’ll Love This Tiramisu 🌿

  • 🍇 Ready to assemble in 25 minutes
  • 💜 Purple berry dust on top
  • 🧀 Mascarpone and Greek yogurt cream
  • 🫐 Blueberry-blackberry soak
  • 🍰 Soft ladyfinger layers
  • 🍋 Lemon in the cream
  • 🍽️ Anti-inflammatory Mediterranean dessert

Why This Dessert Fits an Anti-Inflammatory Mediterranean Plate

Berries, extra-virgin olive oil in a light drizzle, lemon, and yogurt keep this in Mediterranean territory. The cream is mascarpone cut with Greek yogurt, not a heavy buttercream. Honey is the sweetener, used modestly.

The purple color comes from blended blueberries and blackberries, plus a dust of freeze-dried berry powder. Chill it so the slice lifts clean, like the photo.

Frequently Asked Questions ❓

What makes it purple? 💜

A blueberry-blackberry puree in the cream, and freeze-dried berry powder on top. Ube powder also works if that is what you have.

Do I need espresso? ☕

No. This version uses a berry soak so the color stays purple. A splash of cooled espresso is optional if you want a classic tiramisu note.

Can I use sponge cake instead of ladyfingers? 🍰

Yes. Cut plain sponge into fingers and dip quickly so it does not fall apart.

How long does it need to chill? ❄️

At least 4 hours. Overnight is better if you want a clean square slice.

Ingredients 🛒

For the Cream

  • 8 oz (225 g) mascarpone, cold
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup blueberry-blackberry puree
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Layers

  • 24 ladyfingers
  • ½ cup blueberry juice or cooled berry tea
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons freeze-dried blueberry or blackberry powder, for dusting

Instructions 👩‍🍳

  1. Stir the mascarpone, yogurt, honey, lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in the berry puree so the cream turns pale purple.
  2. Stir the berry juice with the olive oil. Dip each ladyfinger quickly. Do not soak them through.
  3. Lay a layer of dipped ladyfingers in a shallow bowl or 8-inch dish. Spread half the cream over them.
  4. Add a second layer of ladyfingers and the rest of the cream. Smooth the top.
  5. Cover and chill at least 4 hours. Dust thickly with berry powder just before serving so the top looks like the photo.

Notes & Tips 💡

  • Cold mascarpone mixes smoother. If it looks lumpy, beat it alone for 20 seconds first.
  • A quick dip is enough. Wet ladyfingers turn the slice muddy.
  • Extra-virgin olive oil in the soak keeps the dessert in Mediterranean territory.
  • Dust right before serving. The powder darkens if it sits on the cream too long.
  • This is best the day after it is built, when the layers have set.

This Purple Tiramisu is cool, berry-bright, and done after a chill. A simple bowl built on yogurt, lemon, berries, and a light olive oil soak. 🍇🍋
