Kiwi Smoothie
This is the glass I blend when I want something cold and thick enough to hold a straw upright. Kiwi is the fruit you taste. Frozen berries are what turn it pink instead of pale green, which is the color in the photo. Yogurt keeps it from drinking like juice. Kiwi rounds go on the inside of the glass before the pour, so they show through the side, and two more sit on top.
Ripe kiwi is sweet enough on its own. A hard one tastes grassy, so leave it for another day or add a teaspoon of honey. Frozen berries, not ice, are what make it mound over the rim. Ice waters it down and knocks the slices off the glass. Blend the fruit first, then pour. If the garnish slices go into the blender, you lose the look.
It makes one tall glass, or two smaller ones. Drink it as soon as it is poured. It settles and the color dulls if it sits. A metal straw matches the photo. A spoon works if you want it thicker.
Why you'll love it
- Ready in 5 minutes.
- Pink from the berries, kiwi still in the flavor.
- Slices on the inside of the glass, like the photo.
- Thick enough to spill a little over the rim.

Ingredients

Instructions
- Press the kiwi rounds onto the inside of a cold glass. A damp glass helps them stick.
- Blend the chopped kiwi, frozen berries, yogurt, milk, and honey until smooth. It should be thick, not a juice.
- Pour into the glass so it mounds a little over the rim.
- Set two kiwi slices on top and add a straw. Drink it right away.
Notes & Tips
- Frozen berries, not ice. Ice thins it and knocks the slices off the glass.
- Cold glass. A warm glass sweats and the slices slip.
- Ripe kiwi only. Underripe kiwi stays sour even with honey.
- Stop the blend while it is still thick. Add a splash of milk only if it will not turn.

- Nutrition: Net carbohydrates: 39g
- Nutrition: WW estimate: 6 points on the current plan (fruit and honey carry the points; plain yogurt is usually low)
- Best the minute it is poured. It separates after about 20 minutes.
- Do not freeze the poured glass. Freeze the fruit and blend it tomorrow instead.
- Nutrition is an estimate from two kiwi in the blend, one kiwi for the glass, frozen berries, yogurt, and a teaspoon of honey.
Variations & serving ideas
- No berries: use frozen mango. The glass will be gold-green, not pink.
- No yogurt: use a frozen banana. The smoothie will be sweeter.
- Dairy-free: use coconut yogurt and almond milk.
- Higher protein: add a spoon of unflavored protein powder and a splash more milk.
- No honey: skip it if the kiwi is ripe.
